  • What are the criteria required to be eligible for Independent Living Services funding*.
    All youth ages 14-26 are participants within the Georgia Resilient, Youth-Centered, Stable, and Empowered Program.  Specific funding for services and programs are for youth that 14 and older and has been in Georgia’s foster care system for a minimum of 6 months (non-consecutive).

  • If I am youth boarding in a different county than my legal county who is my Independent Living Specialist?
    Your boarding county (where you currently live) Independent Living Specialist is your point of contact for workshops and local access to services.  Your legal county (where your case is maintained) Independent Living Specialist is available for funding needs.
  • I have aged out of Georgia’s foster care and would like to go to college, what do I need to do?
    Contact the Independent Living Specialist from the last county you resided.
  • If I am an eligible ILP youth am I able to receive Education Training Vouchers (ETV) for an out of state college or university​? Youth who attend an out of state college or university is only eligible to receive $5000.00 per academic school year, contingent upon if the youth maintains a 2.0 cumulative GPA, and he or she submit all necessary documents to ILS, etc. 
  • Are youth required to have a Georgia ID to open an IDA bank account? Bank account opening requirements vary per bank. Please check with the desired financial institution for specific account opening requirements.
